For over a decade, Northlane have been synonymous with fearless evolution in Australian heavy music. Three-time ARIA winners and internationally recognised trailblazers, the Sydney band have carved out a space that is as uncompromising as it is innovative, blending metal, progressive, post-hardcore, and electronic elements into a sound entirely their own. This March and April, they embark on an Australian tour that promises an intimate, up-close encounter with a band whose scale and ambition are typically only glimpsed on festival stages. For Victorian audiences, the Torquay and Melbourne shows are essential stops, performances that are rare, fleeting, and unmissable.
The 10-date tour begins on Thursday, 26 March, at The Warehouse in Townsville, before travelling through Mackay, Rockhampton, Brisbane, Miranda, Central Coast, Torquay, Melbourne, Hobart, and concluding in Forth, Tasmania, on Saturday, 18 April. Alongside Northlane will be Inertia and Reliqa, with Heartline appearing on select Victorian and Tasmanian dates. Each supporting act brings its own distinct energy and vision, reflecting the depth and dynamism of Australia’s contemporary heavy music scene.

Northlane’s catalogue is a testament to their relentless drive. Across six acclaimed albums, including ARIA #1 records Obsidian and Node, the band has continually reinvented itself without losing the visceral intensity that defines their live performances. Singularity, Mesmer, and Alien all debuted at number three on the ARIA charts, while three consecutive ARIA Awards for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album, alongside two AIR Awards for Best Independent Heavy Album, underscore the recognition they have garnered both at home and abroad. Their music is not only technically impressive but emotionally resonant, a blend of precision, atmosphere, and raw energy that demands to be experienced in person.
The tour’s significance is amplified by the choice of venues. Regional and suburban spaces, often overlooked in favour of major cities, provide an intimacy that transforms a Northlane performance into a shared, almost tangible experience. The Torquay Hotel on Saturday 11 April, will allow audiences to feel the full weight of the band’s sound in a space that amplifies its power without overwhelming it. The following night, Sunday 12 April, Stay Gold in Melbourne promises the same intensity, offering city audiences a rare opportunity to see the band perform in a venue designed for connection rather than spectacle.
Supporting Northlane on this tour are acts that reflect the same commitment to innovation and performance. Sydney metalcore favourites Inertia bring dark pop-infused intensity, their self-produced debut album Second Shadow a testament to their DIY ethos and relentless work ethic. Reliqa, also from Sydney, merge progressive metalcore with elements of electronica, pop, and post-hardcore, crafting a sound that is as experimental as it is visceral. Heartline, appearing in Victoria and Tasmania, round out the lineup with fresh, urgent energy, establishing themselves as one of the most exciting alternative acts in the country today.
Beyond the music itself, Northlane’s live shows are immersive experiences. The band has spent the past year touring relentlessly across Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America, commanding major stages at Download UK, Rock Am Ring, Graspop, Resurrection Fest, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock. Their performances are defined by an intensity that makes each note feel immediate, each lyric a pulse felt across the room. In smaller venues, that intensity is magnified, transforming the space into something almost tangible, a shared heartbeat between band and audience. It’s a DNA thread throughout out Australian heavy music scene, where bands are constantly raising the bar in terms of production, performance, and pride for the music scene.
For Victorian audiences, the Torquay and Melbourne shows are more than dates in a calendar, they are a chance to witness one of Australia’s most important heavy acts at their most vital, raw, and intimate. Missing them would be to forfeit an experience that is as thrilling as it is unforgettable.
