Yorke has always had a knack for turning vulnerability into verve, and with her new single break up season, she rewrites the heartbreak playbook entirely. Dropping today via Island Records Australia and premiering on triple j, the track is an audacious, glittering pop anthem that revels in the messy joy of endings. Synth-heavy and brimming with shimmering electronic textures, it channels the irresistible energy of 2010s pop while carving out a sound that feels wholly her own.

Inspired by a friend’s scandalous recounting of breakups, Yorke flips the script: “Breakups are inevitable, so you might as well make them fun to listen to,” she says. And fun it is. With a wink, a sparkle, and more than a hint of cheek, the track embraces heartbreak as a shared, almost celebratory experience.
The single was co-written with Grammy-winning producer Tommy Brown (Ariana Grande, The Weeknd) and multi-instrumentalist Wells*, crafted during the 2025 ARIA Collab program. The results are gleaming: Yorke’s bold vocals cut through the lush production, while Brown’s guidance imbues the track with an unshakable sense of pop grandeur. “It gave me the same feeling as when I heard Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ for the first time,” Yorke recalls of presenting the demo—a testament to the infectious euphoria at the heart of the song.
The music video, directed by ARIA Award-winning Kyle Caulfield and Charles Buxton-Leslie, is a darkly comic, visually whimsical companion to the track. Filmed on film, the “break up clinic” concept is part Disney horror, part pink Barbie fantasy, a surreal playground where broken hearts are fixed—or spectacularly not. It’s a perfect mirror to the song: playful, vibrant, and just a little bit wicked.
Following her 2025 unfinished business era and a recent Japan tour, break up season marks a confident new chapter for Yorke. Leaning fully into her love of pop, she delivers a song that’s both joyous and fearless, a sonic reflection of clarity and self-assurance. With over 50 million streams to date and an ever-growing international fanbase, Yorke is shaping up to be one of Australia’s brightest pop exports.
Whilst heartbreak doesn’t beg for an invitation, we’re more than willing to jump into ‘break up season’ with Yorke. Listen to it now here.
