Regarded as one of the most important albums in the post-hardcore scene, The Used’s self-titled 2002 album went on to influence a generation of artists, peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200 charts, and debuted at #34 on the ARIA Australian Albums charts. Now certified platinum in the US and gold in Australia, the album brought anthems ‘The Taste of Ink’, ‘Buried Myself Alive’, ‘Blue and Yellow’ and ‘On My Own’. The album became synonymous with the ’emo’ movement of the early 2000’s thanks to it’s blend of punk, acoustic, metal, rock and pop punk in the same palette. Frontman Bert McCracken’s vocals became a landmark trait of the time and continued into their follow ups In Love and Death and Lies For The Liar.
Both albums continued the bands strong trajectory in the scene, continuing their chart success and reaching commercial credentials with its single ‘Pretty Handsome Awkward’ going on to appear on Michael Bay’s 2007 Transformers soundtrack.
