Ever heard of Scary-oke? It’s not when the singing is so horrible it sounds like a screeching scene from a horror movie, but rather Halloween-themed karaoke where ghosts, ghouls, goblins and monsters come alive through song.
It’s all part of The Bar Colac‘s most frightening Friday night Halloween celebrations.
Where: 27 Murray Street, Colac, VIC, Australia, Victoria

For Halloween’s big event on Friday 31 October, The Bar Colac will welcome in locals and visitors, both living and dead, to join their sing-alongs. Dress up in your best Halloween outfits – whether you take a cue from Mean Girls and go for the sexy style or you want to get spines tingling with gore-galore – and belt out the bangers of the undead. You know the song list will include ‘The Monster Mash’, Rocky Horrors ‘The Time Wrap’, ‘Zombie’ from The Cranberries, The Ramones ‘Pet Sematary’ and of course the masterpiece from Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’, but there might be room for some newies – ‘vampire’ from Olivia Rodrigo, or Tame Impala’s ‘Dracula’.
With themed drink specials including creepy cocktails, a horror movie-like set stationed inside the bar as cobwebs, creepy crawlies, skeletons and strobing lights transform the space, and prizes for the best costumes, you know it’s going to be a night worth living for!
You have double double, toil and trouble with a spooky Saturday offering as well. Local legends (fittingly named after a real life horror) Mid-Life Crisis continue the chaos of the cursed night. Expect killer riffs, haunting harmonies, and a packed dance floor full of witches, vampires, and who-knows-what-else. There’s a cover charge fee of $10 for this one with doors from 7pm. Both nights are strictly 18+ with ID required.
Beware – a surprise might just be lurking around every corner of this Colac local wateringhole! It’s an epic event to honour the most haunting night of the year.
