Public Figures to play The Sound Doctor’s first all-ages concert

All-ages gigs arrive at Anglesea's regular live music spot.

Angelsea’s beloved live music champions, The Sound Doctor, are stepping up with their first all ages show, co-presented with Amplify (formerly FReeZA), and it promises to be a highlight for young music fans. Headlining the night are rising stars Public Figures, supported by talented local school bands and artists, God Speed, Frazey Horsburgh-White & Eve Beveridge.

The gig will take place on Friday 8 May, from 7pm at Anglesea Memorial Hall, kickstarting a massive weekend of music.

Students from Lorne High School will help shape, set up, and run the event. Bassist Mary Lou Hylands, now of Public Figures, credits FReeZA for giving her early access to live music that inspired her journey into the industry, creating a full-circle moment for the next generation of young creatives.

Public Figures have been on a meteoric rise. They impressed audiences on Live at 3RRR, opened The Supers at Golden Plains in March, and have just released their debut EP. 2026 is shaping up to be a breakout year, and the band will now bring their infectious energy to the SoundDoctor stage in an alcohol-free, all ages event designed to ignite the local music scene.

The Sound Doctor is a group of Surf Coast music lovers passionate about bringing established artists to perform in an intimate venue in Anglesea, Victoria. But it’s not just your humble local bands gracing their events – the group have a resume of performances from renowned international and national artists and bands.

Upcoming for May, the organisation will be playing host to William Crighton and Magpies Diaries on Saturday 9 May, and then Mama Kin Spender on Sunday 10 May, a triple dose of live music for the locals.

For this all-ages showcase, you’ll be blown away by the talent but even moreso by the coming together of community as they celebrate the next wave of artists from the region.
