Leading the fresh additions is none other than Fantastic Negrito (USA) — the three-time Grammy-winning blues disruptor whose soulful howl and shape-shifting style have sold out venues around the world. Also joining the bill is dreamy Brooklyn singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen (USA), bringing her tender, celestial folk-pop to Port Fairy for the very first time, along with Morocco’s spellbinding all-female gnawa ensemble Asmâa Hamzaoui & Bnat Timbouktou (MAR), whose transcendent, rhythmic trance tradition is set to be a festival standout.
Fans of virtuosity and wild creativity will be thrilled to see Dallahan (SCO), one of Scotland’s most innovative folk outfits, and Catalonia’s joyful sea-shanty-loving collective El Pony Pisador (CAT/ESP), whose shows leave crowds equal parts grinning and breathless. Rounding out the international newcomers is Americana treasure Jim Lauderdale (USA) — a songwriter’s songwriter whose influence reaches across country, bluegrass and beyond.
The new announcement also champions an exceptional wave of local and returning favourites including Feelds, Caisha Sprout, Crest of Crows, The Ocelots (IRE), Mountain Grass Unit (USA), Radical Son, The Southern Ocean Sea Band, The Lost Clog, and celebrated English folk duo While & Matthews (ENG).
They join a massive list of previously announced artists such as Iron & Wine (USA), Kasey Chambers, Emma Donovan’s Take Me To The River, Willie Watson (USA), Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, Mary Coughlan (IRE), Åkervinda (SWE), Pierce Brothers, Rainbow Girls (USA), Elephant Sessions (SCO), Beoga (IRE) and stacks more.
Festival Director Justin Rudge says this latest announcement is all about celebrating the breathtaking breadth of folk music and the cultures that shape it.
“Every announcement adds a new chapter to the Port Fairy story — each one a celebration of connection through the shared culture of music and song. This latest line-up brings together everything from Oakland blues to Moroccan trance, Appalachian string music and Catalan sea shanties, alongside the heart of Australian folk. Book your tickets and start planning your visit to Port Fairy. This is one festival you don’t want to miss!”
