Known for telling atmospheric sonic tales, Gap Year circle in the same air space as The War On Drugs, Real Estate, and The National, with their sophomore entry only lifting their feet higher from the ground. Settle in with the nearly 5 and a half minute opener, ‘Old Races’; a steady builder that immediately alleviates any tension that you may be holding.

Taking three years to deliver, In Light benefits from conscious construction with a keen focus on composition. Take ‘Where I Came From’, a song that could easily have fallen into surf rock territory but instead makes use of light and shade with a soothing yet melancholic vocal carried by dizzying 80’s-laden synths to add sparks.

Through this, the ten tracks build a home – cosy, familiar, and warm.
