Emerging in the most rock ‘n’ roll way in the form of sketchy home recordings dropped on coffee shop counters, TV On The Radio have found their community outside of the cafe. Taking over the New York City scene with their art-rock religion, the band weaved influences of Bad Brains to Brian Eno into their sound, dominating the early 2000’s. Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes (2004), Return to Cookie Mountain (2006), and Dear Science (2008), shaped the early 00’s with ‘Wolf Like Me’ and ‘Happy Idiot’ being etched into the caves of the indie rock period.
They will be pillared by the infectious onstage antics of Japanese girl group Atarashii Gakko! and the distinct dance pop fragrance of Perfume Genius whose 2020 Set My Heart On Fire Immediately changed the definition of pop music, and latest Glory has grown into it’s own figure.
Also hanging on the 33rd Meredith mantel are Thee Sacred Souls, Pa Salieu, HAAi, Bar Italia, Mildlife, and the hot property power group Folk Bitch Trio.
Adding to the Australian representation, this years festival puts legacy with legwork acts revealing Men at Work’s Colin Hays alongside grassroots to stadium servers Radio Free Alice, as well as festival favourite on 2025 Drifting Clouds.
Saya Gray, RONA, Dames Brown, Omar Souleyman, Sam Austins, RP Boo, Florist, Wax’o Paradiso, Jack J, Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice, Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir, Mouseatouille, Brown Spirits, City Of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band and Lazy Susan round out the first lineup announcement with more acts to come.
