In their first album in four years, Rise Against are impenetrable

Ricochet is out today via Loma Vista Records.

It’s the first album in four years from Rise Against and they don’t waste time leaping into it with open ‘Nods’ urgent “And tell me where does the time really go?” before stomping straight into an assault for the ears. It’s a thread that remains throughout the entirety of Ricochet.

Rise Against – Ricochet

Label: Loma Vista Recordings

Release Date: 15 August

You’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting a carbon copy of Siren Song of the Counter-Culture. Rise Against are making music for now – dissecting our social structures, challenging ideals, and considering consequences. Production-wise the quality of their music is still A-Grade. For Ricochet they enlisted GRAMMY Award winning producer, Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Foals, Manchester Orchestra, St. Vincent), and mixer Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age, The Killers) who together have captured the mature, polished side of punk.

Ricochet maintains the band’s ability to produce anthems, building walls of melody, rooting it with determined drumming, and spitting messages out with full chest. ‘Us Against The World’, ‘Damage Is Done’, ‘State of Emergency’ and the obvious single ‘I Want It All’ play into the big sound, big delivery DNA of Rise Against, reaffirming their punk rock roots. ‘Prizefighter’ pushes the band’s bounds of songwriting and is a driving force for Ricochet.

The album continues Rise Against’s solid stance in the punk rock scene, proving to be impenetrable.
