Gran Fondo and SpinOff festival rolls into Geelong

Cycling meets concert - the Geelong Waterfront will be sent into spin with thrilling activity this month!

Geelong’s iconic waterfront is set to come alive as the City of Greater Geelong proudly hosts the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Team Relay and SpinOff festival – a free celebration of cycling, music and family fun.

Cyclists from all over the world will descend on Geelong on Friday 17 October from 4.00pm to 9.00pm for a Team Relay and Family Ride along a 1.92 km criterium course through Upper Hearne Parade.

Meanwhile, Eastern Beach Reserve will be buzzing with SpinOff festival good vibes, offering a stellar line-up of live music and entertainment.

The dual event run will see entertainment on all fronts. The cycling component of the Gran Fondo will run in two stages. Kicking off at 4pm, the Hendry’s SpinOff Family Ride is the 1.9km closed road circuit designed for a recreational ride that brings the family together. With registration and bike number collection from 3pm, the circuit is open to families with riders from 6 years and older. As of 19 October 2025, younger passengers are permitted in road-safe carriers with a guardian.

Following the quick and easy circuit, the main event will be on for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Team Relay will commence at Upper Hearne Parade. The fast-paced relay will see riders navigate the 1.92km anti-clockwise criterium course at Eastern Park, where every twist and turn will test their skills against the backdrop of lush gardens and panoramic views of Corio Bay. This course offers a unique combination of challenge and scenery. This ride runs from 6pm, with the Team’s Relay Presentations to follow at 6.45pm.

The intensity of this event is complemented by the soothing sounds of live music on Eastern Beach Reserve. Starting the event you have Farah at 4pm. Hassall takes time out from touring the country to head home, bringing with her new material from her latest Means More To Me Than It Does To You. Hot property, sibling duo Pierce Brothers will step up from 7pm and the event will be capped by the energetic styles of The Bamboos at 8.15pm.

There’ll be something for everyone with a variety of food trucks, children’s activities (face painting, silent disco), and plenty of space to relax by the bay on a picnic blanket. Enjoy the glorious bay views, the thrilling race and the lively entertainment in this family friendly event.
