Star Wars Day (aka May the 4th) is just around the corner and the good people at Disney are helping us Victorians celebrate that galaxy far, far away with a massive Star Wars Day event right in the heart of Melbourne.
Taking over Federation Square, the galactic shenanigans will go down this Sunday, May 2 (due to the iconic day landing on a Tuesday), with a deathstar-sized event full day of free fan events including photo opportunities, cosplay competitions, a food truck and heaps more.
Running from 9am, there will be everything from character appearances from local fan groups; exclusive activations and photo opportunities, in celebration of Disney+ Original Series Star Wars: The Bad Batch (the animated series, which is available starting May 4 on Disney Plus); a life-size TIE-fighter replica to get a photo with; and exclusive Star Wars products from Zing, the home of pop culture; to ‘Toy-Box’ photo ops; Cosplay competitions; and a LEGO zone.
For the fledgeling padawans out there, you can train like a jedi and learn the ways of the force with a fun jedi experience, while the food enthusiasts will find a Star Wars-based menu on rotation at the Transport Restaurant.
Rounded out with the Crepes for Change Food Truck and a tonne of prizes to be won throughout the day, there’s something for everyone – from Anakin to Ewoks and everyone in between.
Celebrate Star Wars day, we must.
May The Fourth be with you all.
It all goes down at Federation Square, Swanston Street & Flinders Street, Melbourne from 9am until 4pm, Sunday May 2 2021. For more information, visit the Facebook event here.
