Locals are being called to head down to Sunken Oval on Sunday 23 November at 2pm, decked out in their favourite Aussie band tee — think INXS, Silverchair, Tame Impala, or that faded Powderfinger shirt you refuse to throw out — all in the name of Aus Music T-Shirt Day and raising money for Support Act.
The event comes from local legends Fionna and her partner Adam, who admit they have a habit of turning silly ideas into real-life community projects. (“We really have to stop doing this,” they say — but we hope they never do.)
While AusMusic T-Shirt Day officially lands on Thursday 27 November, this pre-party in Castlemaine is a chance for music lovers to come together, celebrate homegrown talent, and support a cause that looks after the people who make the music we love.
AusMusic T-Shirt Day is a national day of celebration, joy and recognition — a chance to show up for the people who make the music happen. From artists and bandmates to crew, techs, managers and beyond, it takes a whole community to bring Australian music to life. Wearing a tee, raising funds or making a donation is how we celebrate that community — and how we help Support Act continue delivering vital mental health support, crisis relief and dedicated services for those who keep the industry going. It’s more than a t-shirt. It’s a show of solidarity for the heartbeat of Australian music.
So, grab your mates, throw on your loudest Aussie band tee, and be part of a record-breaking moment that’s equal parts ridiculous, heartwarming, and totally on-brand for Castlemaine.
