The team at Priority Bookings put a pin in ever putting on another Summer Slam – a festival that saw local bands given glory, booze flowing all day, and the BC Bandroom and Barn bumping with bodies.
Like that Vanessa Hudgens movie of the early 00’s but cooler, Summer Slam is a band slam contest that sees local talent serve up their epic music moves to receive eternal glory.
This year saw big guns O.R.B, Vintage Crop, Blonde Revolver, Straight Arrows, Billiam and the Split Bills, Kosmetika, Checkpoint, Oil!, It Thing, Kitchen People, Evening News, De Porsal, The Floaties, Dialog, Software Update and Piss Bucket step into the ring with Sydney long-running garage rockers Straight Arrows rising to the top. It was meant to be an epic send off for the festival – a bulls eye on the target with their winner – and a retirement for the riot-fest but Priority Bookings couldn’t keep away.

Returning to the lively South Geelong live music sanctuary, The Barwon Club Hotel, to take over the 500 capacity Bandroom and extended The Barn, Summer Slam ’26 will return in epic fashion on Saturday 17 January 2026. Running from 3pm, the half venue takeover will see big hitters go head to head in a sonic smackdown.
Your match card is highlighted with number one entry, The Vasco Era. A band who are heavily held in high regard in the Geelong region thanks to their unabashed brand of rock, The Vasco Era stepped aside for a while. Their recent return to the stage has been nothing short of stellar, and they will bring it all to the stage for the chance to be on top again!
They will face off with a list of punch-above the average players, Alien Nosejob, Tee Vee Repairman, Dragnet, The Carp Factory, Zipper, Hard Rubbish, Piggietails, Men’s Health Club, and Equestrian Fields, for the eternal glory of being Summer Slam ’26 winners.
That’s just round one – more contenders are to come.
For a day packed with back-to-back bands, booze and a world of fun, this is fast becoming summer’s most coveted event.
Proudly sponsored by the kind folks at Coopers Brewery, Summer Slam ’26 just got a whole lot better with their cheap as chips tickets. You have $50 + b/f for online purchase, or $60 on the door. We suggest getting in early for your chance to witness the Summer Slam of the century.
