The ‘Resolution’ and ‘Brother’ songwriter knows the art of crafting songs with meaning. ‘Long and Short’ is no exception. A deeply moving single that speaks straight from the heart, ‘Long and Short’ captures raw intimacy and power that has become synonymous with the Northern-Rivers based artist.

Written alongside renowned activist and performer/writer Shungudzo, ‘Long and Short’ is Corby’s first new music since the release of 2023 album Everything’s Fine and was written in a moment of acceptance after the loss of a loved one.

Corby says of the tracks origins, “Recently someone very close to me passed away from pancreatic cancer and it was very tragic for everyone around me.

The process of mourning has been long and tough during which you are involuntarily hit with an influx of questions about our mortality and the way we choose to experience this moment we call life. This song is paying homage to the journey one embarks on (hopefully there is one) after they pass away and wishes those on that journey safe passage to their next great adventure.

I hope you can take the time to listen and enjoy or cry maybe… it’s up to you.”

Accompanying today’s release is a personal visualiser shot by Corby using his cherished Super8 film camera. Seen for the first time, the personal footage offers us a glimpse into Matt’s everyday life at Rainbow Valley, capturing moments with his family.

The new work from Corby comes ahead of his supporting slot for megastar Teddy Swims national tour. The sell-out arena tour sees Corby play Rod Laver Arena for three consecutive nights on Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 October.
