Perfume Genius to play Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat this December

It's a Meredith Music Festival sideshow for the ages as Perfume Genius drifts into Ballarat

Playing just down the road across the weekend of 5 through 7 December at Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre as one of the top billings of this years 33rd Meredith Music Festival, Perfume Genius has dropped a side show in Ballarat.

Playing Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat on Wednesday 3 December, the show is one of three shows in Victoria since 2022.

Perfume Genius has built a dynamic and dynamite name for themselves across 25 years. 2017’s No Shape catapulted the Iowa artist to new heights with track ‘Slip Away’ earning attention in blockbusters including Book Smart. Their infectious blend of bedroom pop meets glam rock has set them apart in the contemporary music age and their honest songwriting has helped shape a generation.

2020 saw Perfume Genius generate their most defining work with Set My Heart On Fire Immediately. Showcase single ‘On The Floor’ and the distinct ‘Describe’ are recognised as two of Genuis’ most important contributions to music. In 2023, Perfume Genius’s collaboration with the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s on ‘Spitting Off The Edge Of The World’ received a nomination at the Grammy Awards  for Best Alternative Music Performance.

On this Australian appearance, Perfume Genius will be celebrating their latest album offering Glory. Released in March of this year, Glory has continued Perfume Genius’ trajectory, building their pop power in undeniable fashion. Glory, produced by Blake Mills and released on longtime label home Matador Records, marks the seventh studio album in Perfume Genius’ immaculate body of work, which includes collaborations with such artists as including Christine And The Queens, Sharon Van Etten, Weyes Blood, Cate Le Bon and most recently, reuniting with Aldous Harding for the incredible ‘No Front Teeth’.
