It’s hard to believe that buskers turned Melbourne’s best indie folk duo, Pierce Brothers released their spellbinding EP The Night Tree a decade ago but sure enough, the collection hit the ground running in 2014.
To celebrate the anniversary, the duo are heading out on the road for a mammoth 20 day tour heading through Port Fairy, Torquay, Belgrave, Margaret River, Ravenswood, Scarborough, Glengarry, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, and Melbourne, as well as appearances locked in at Frankston’s Waterfront Festival, Echuca’s Riverboats Music Festival, Mundi Mundi Bash in Broken Hill, and on stage for the last ever edition of Bryon Bay’s Bluesfest.

Credited as the catalyst for Pierce Brothers onto the world stage, The Night Tree was the third EP for twin brothers Jack and Patrick Pierce, following their 2011 self-titled and 2013’s Blind Boys Run. The Night Tree saw the brothers embrace a bolder and more distinct sound across eight tracks including ‘Genevieve’, ‘Golden Times’, and ‘White Whale’, all of which continue to be dedicated fan favourites during their live shows.
The Night Tree shot Pierce Brothers onto the charts, hitting number seven on the Alt iTunes charts and number 33 overall on the iTunes charts upon its release, a trend that has continued into their 2024 release of album Everything Is Bigger Than Me, which garnered both chart success as well as rave critical reviews.
The past decade has seen Pierce Brothers evolve into mainstays of the indie folk scene, bringing in over 40 million global streams, being enamoured by festival crowds and supporting the likes of Tones and I, Tash Sultana, the aforementioned James Blunt, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, The Cat Empire, and more. This year they toured Europe extensively, selling out shows across the majority of the tour.
This is a great chance to not only celebrate the Pierce Brothers catalogue but to dive deeper into the EP that elevated their career.
