Backed by the Victorian Government through the Regional Tourism Investment Fund and brought to life by Fry Studio and North Building Group, the new beer garden is already turning heads (and pouring pints!) with a fresh look that’s bigger, better and built for all seasons.

The newly opened space gives us our first taste of what’s to come, and it’s an absolute glow-up. Think cosy in winter, breezy in summer and comfortable every day in between. Today’s launch shows off the first stage of upgrades, including:

  • Heating and covered zones
  • Green open spaces perfect for spreading out
  • A dedicated outdoor live music stage
  • A faster, smarter bar setup
  • More loos (bless)
  • All-day, all-night pizza oven
  • Fully accessible pathways and new entrances

In short: it’s built for good times.

Designed with locals, families, gig-goers and holiday-makers in mind, phase one sets the tone for a huge new chapter at Torquay Hotel. The refreshed beer garden is already shaping up to be the summer hangout. It’s the spot where afternoons turn into evenings, where music drifts through warm coastal air and where you’re always one drink away from running into someone you know. But this is just the start.

Phase two of the redevelopment will continue through to mid-2026, eventually delivering a fully reimagined beer garden complete with three bars, even more space for crowds, modern restrooms, expanded entertainment areas and a purpose-built stage setup ready for major live music moments. If today’s opening is anything to go by, Torquay is in for something special.

The hotel team is buzzing, too. After years of dreaming, designing and refining the details, they’ve finally unveiled the first part of a project that’s been “a long time coming” and they’re more than ready to celebrate with the community that made it possible.

“We can’t wait to kick off a huge summer of music, food and good vibes with you,” the venue shared. Today marks the beginning of exactly that with their live music program popping across the end of 2025 and into 2026 with acts like Osmosis Jones, Good Neighbours, Mclusky, The Terrys, The Vanns, and The Growlers all hitting up the award-winning venue!

With phase one now open, the taps running faster, the pizza oven humming and the stage waiting for its first big moment, the new Torquay Hotel beer garden is officially open for business — and ready for its biggest summer yet.

Grab your mates, grab a table and get in early. It’s only day one, and the vibes are already immaculate.
