Geelong’s beloved film developing lab, gallery and cafe Analogue Academy is closing

The hub dedicated to cultivating arts culture in Geelong will close in March.

Devastating local art lovers and musicians alike, Analogue Academy has announced its closure, bringing an end to the beloved quirky central Geelong business.

“After a wonderful decade of art, film processing, coffee, music, poetry and conversation, plus so much more, with a heavy but grateful heart we announce the closure of Analogue,” the business announced on social media.

“We can’t thank you all enough for sharing the journey with us over the last ten years, but all good things must come to an end, and we feel it is our time to move onto other things.

“We hope we’ve been a space of joy for all those who have visited regularly or on occasion, and we feel so lucky to call our customers friends, or dare I say it: family.

“It is heartbreaking to be writing these words, but what a blessing it was to have been a home for so many wonderful connections and events throughout our time operating.

“Also with this announcement we’d like to share a massive thank you to our team over the years, for all their dedicated work, ideas, and diligence in making a safe space for all people in Geelong. We feel very lucky to be a home of those that live and think differently, and hope more spaces can foster these communities in Geelong in the future.”

For the past 10 years, Analogue has evolved from a processing lab into a café, bar, exhibition space, and performance space for all manner of artistic pursuits that may have otherwise struggled to find a platform in Geelong.

Here you could nearly always catch a local art display with Analogue showcasing a whole bunch of local artists, from photography, poetry, drawings, and paintings from different local legends. There were also board games for you and your boo, so you could sip on your coffee and enjoy a spot of chess while soaking in the artwork from the local talent.
