Influenced by the likes of ’90s folk/rock outfits such as Bright Eyes, Neutral Milk Hotel and Modest Mouse, Melbourne’s Tiny Little Houses began life as the bedroom musings of Caleb Karvountzis. These days Caleb is joined by Sean Mullins (guitar) Clancy Bond (drums) and Al Yamin (bass).

Laughter is the best medicine and giving to a good cause is surely close behind that. An event you can do both at is the Comedy 4 Karma event at the Daylesford Town Hall, a fundraiser for the Daylesford Dharma School. Last year’s event saw comedians Hannah Gadsby, Sammy J & Randy, Dave O’Neil as MC and many more. At this stage Melody Moon is confirmed as the musical entertainment with wholesome food supplied by the Organic Sunrise Food Van and a silent auction on the night. The bill for this year is said to be on par (if not above) that of last year’s event. The fundraiser takes place on October 16, visit www.dharmaschool.com.au to get tickets.

Voted by Tom Waits as a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, it doesn’t get much better than that for Ocean Grove musician Gallie. Originally from Dublin, Gallie is set to officially launch his new album, The Occuquan River, in October but will play a show at the Potato Shed in Drysdale on September 27 alongside Aine Tyrell.

Regional Victoria will be treated to some wonderful classic performances next month, courtesy of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. MSO Concertmaster Eoin Andersen will lead an ensemble of MSO musicians through Mozart and Beethoven, a concert featuring the most popular of Mozart’s forty-one symphonies.

Riff-driven rock and roll distinguished by raw, powerful female vocals is what Evol Walks is all about. They formed at the beginning of 2014, winning a fan in Brian Howes (Airbourne, Daughtry, Simple Plan) who invited the band to record their debut with him. Further invitations followed, including one to appear at the Global Rock Summit at Musexpo held at the famous Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California.

Recording trouble is not a new thing by any means. Things get in the way. For Koral Chandler, the much-loved Adelaide singer-songwriter who fronts Koral & the Goodbye Horses, it was a hit to her vocal chords. Upon further inspection, the doc found something nasty in her sinuses that required surgery. What followed was an intensive recovery and rehabilitation process.
