The move signals both growth and continuity. Still firmly rooted in the community that has supported it from the beginning, Born and Bread’s new home is nestled within a beautifully crafted brick building that reflects the care and craftsmanship synonymous with the bakehouse itself. Designed with architectural and creative input from Kate Noseda Designer, VDC Group, Bellarine Signs, Dowel and Jones, and Studio of Adam Lynch, the space has been thoughtfully created to balance functionality with warmth and character.
Construction took just under six months, with VDC Group bringing the vision to life. The Born and Bread team has expressed deep gratitude for the builders’ dedication, describing the result as their “dream” space and praising the collaborative process that brought it together.
While the bakery’s footprint has changed, its philosophy remains the same. Born and Bread continues to champion seasonal baking, with a menu that evolves according to the availability of local produce. Alongside a selection of much-loved staples, customers can expect daily and weekly specials that reflect the rhythms of the seasons and the creativity of the baking team. The croissants are still a drool-worthy must, the buttery and crisp pastries still melt in your mouth and their sandwiches are as hearty as ever! Their specialty sourdough has built them a name that continues to endure!
The new opening also represents a moment of reflection for the business, which has grown steadily over more than a decade. From its original tucked-away Marshall Street location to this prominent Pakington Street corner, Born and Bread has become a cornerstone of the local food scene, known for its quality, consistency and strong connection to community.
Although the new building has been completed with impressive timing, the team has acknowledged that the festive period made an immediate relocation challenging. With that in mind, Born and Bread decided to close out 2025 in its original space “with a bang,” before fully transitioning into this new era in 2026.
As doors open today, the message from the team is one of gratitude. Continuous community support has made this milestone possible, and the new bakehouse stands as both a celebration of how far Born and Bread has come and an invitation to share in what comes next.
