Central Geelong is getting coloured in Christmas cheer this weekend as the Laneway Christmas Market takes over.
An initiative from City of Greater Geelong, in partnership with Piccadilly Market, Creative Geelong’s May’d Christmas Festival and Market Square Shopping Centre, the Laneway Christmas Market will be setup from Friday 6 December between 4.30pm – 8.30pm until Saturday 7 December from 11am – 4pm, inviting Geelong to explore market stalls, engage in workshops and be entertained by roving performers.

Taking over Centrepoint Arcade and Market Square Shopping Centre, Laneway Christmas Market will see festive fun takeover on Friday in Christmas market form, offering handmade and unique gifts from local makers and artists, pop up food stalls with delicious food and drinks, and interactive workshops and activities including cookie decorating, bath crystal pop ups, children’s activities, exhibitions, Santa Photos, festive winders, interactive reindeers and live music and entertainment.
Highlights of the Friday include:
On the Saturday, Creative Geelong’s MayD Christmas Festival and Market will be in full swing with unique gifts and products available from local creatives and artists. Santa Photos will be on offer again as will the interactive reindeer, festive windows and live performances. There will additionally be gingerbread decorating, community stalls and tasty treats and children’s craft workshops.

The market adds to the huge program of Christmas festivities taking place across the region this month, most significantly the Floating Christmas Tree at Geelong Waterfront which be turned on for nightly sound and light shows every 15 minutes between 8.30pm and midnight, at six minutes long, until Christmas. Joining the Christmas Nights series across Geelong, The Carousel will be holding family-friendly sound and light shows on 14 and 21 December from 5.30pm, catering to community members who find the normal 8.30pm start time too late.
