Grovedale Hotel wins title of best Sports Bar – Regional in State Awards

Congratulations are in order for a favourite family-friendly hotel and sports hotspot.

Hospitality was honoured on Monday 18 May during the annual AHA Victoria State Awards with one of Geelong’s local cornerstone hotels acknowledged on the night of nights. The Grovedale Hotel, more affectionately known locally as The Grovey, took out the top spot for Best Sports Bar – Regional.

Presented by Foxtel Business, the category was littered with big names in the sports entertainment and dining space including Whaler Hotel, Warrnambool, Western Hotel, Ballarat, All Seasons Resort Hotel Bendigo, Strathdale, and San Remo Hotel, amongst others. With its diverse layout with dedicated dining, function, drinking and sports entertainment facilities, The Grovedale Hotel is a favourite spot for catching the game with friends with prime viewing on 85 inch HD TVs. Elevating the experience is their US-influenced bar food – from ribs to southern-style chicken – along with classic pub favourites including the old faithful Parmi. A big congratulations is in order for the hotel – be sure to watch the next footy game in the space.     

Elsewhere in the finalists division for the AHA Victoria State Awards, there were a bunch of familiar faces from Geelong including the Federal Mills own bold fiesta and fun-times spot, MexiCams gaining an acknowledgement in the Best Refurbished Space and Speciality Bar. The fitout, undertaken by Hamilton Group and designed by Hamilton Clark Architects, transformed the heritage site at the Federal Mills into a vibrant high-energy venue where the streets of Mexico come alive across two bars, an open dining area for fiesta, four karaoke rooms, and bowling lanes.

Further regional spots were awarded during the evening including The Social Bar & Eating House, Bendigo, Old Faithfulls Brew Bar, Wangaratta for Best Pub Bar, San Remo Hotel for Best Outdoor Experience Regional, The Yackandandah Hotel, The Victoria Rutherglen, and more.
