From sleek functional tableware to bold sculptural pieces, the market is all about celebrating the craft of clay and the creative minds behind it. According to the organizers, the vision is “to celebrate and elevate the vibrant world of ceramic artistry in the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions”.
It’s also a fantastic opportunity to meet the makers, find something unique for your home (or gift-list), and soak up the kind of creativity that doesn’t show up in mass-produced aisles. Held in a venue that marries industrial heritage with craft-market energy, it’s a weekend worth planning for.
The lineup of potters and ceramists is stacked. with a long list of local, regional Victorian and Melbourne makers. Joining the day are Alkimi Ceramics, ALLTHINGSWHITING, Ana Jensen Ceramics, Anna Sheen, Bei Creative Studio and Bella Insch Studio. Coming from the Surf Coast are workshop leaders and clay creators Bellbrae Clay, whilst local favourites Chloe Throws Clay, Danny Cox, Mafia Thing, Elizabeth Bell Ceramics, Pour and Plate and Katherine Wheeler Ceramics bring their creations to Little Creatures. Returning favourite, Sono Studios heads down the highway from Brunswick with their signature brand of kitchenware and Bacchus Marsh based Nikolina Ceramics brings her vibrant works.
Finishing off the long list is Dani Salvo Ceramics, Dirt Candy Ceramics, Emicorn Pottery, Hey Lenny, Karst Ceramics, Kim Drew, Lauren McQuade Handmade, Leah Grant, Natalie Heriot Ceramics, Red Fox Pottery, Throughgood Pottery and Inverleigh’s own, Wombat Pottery.
Whether you’re a long-time collector of handmade wares, or just keen to browse something beautiful while supporting local craft, the Geelong Ceramics Market promises a weekend filled with creativity, clay and community. It’s also the ideal time to start Christmas gifting with some gorgeous handmade home décor additions.
