Hosted by Vinylrules Music, this is no ordinary record fair. Twelve record sellers from across Victoria will fill the Shedshaker with more than 10,000 new and used records and CDs, from Dromana to Warrnambool, Woodend to Castlemaine. Whether you’re hunting for a first pressing from a forgotten jazz ensemble or that elusive album you’ve been chasing for years, there’s a good chance your vinyl dreams will be realised.

Scotty Clarke from Vinylrules Music said the concept brings together independent sellers and record shops to sell their wares and has travelled all over the state.

“From Dromana to Woodend, Warrnambool and now to Castlemaine, we are talking more than 10,000 new and used records and CDs. This is where collectors, crate diggers and music lovers unite so grab your mates, grab a beer and grab some vinyl. We love coming to places like Shedshaker where we get to combine the record fair with great drinks and food and make an awesome day of it.”

For the Shedshaker team, it’s a chance to transform their venue into a hub for music fans.

“This is the first record fair we have hosted and we cannot wait to fill our venue with amazing records and give folks the chance to seriously top up their collections. Whether you are looking for a first pressing from some obscure jazz band to the new Harry Styles album, there is no judgement here – music is for everyone. Personally, don’t get in between me and a copy of Transvision Vamp’s very underestimated third album, released in Australia on coloured vinyl – that’s mine.”

The vinyl celebration doesn’t stop at the crates. From 5pm, Melbourne’s indie jazz trio Southern Duck will take the stage, adding a live soundtrack to an already buzzing day.

The Castlemaine Record Fair runs 11am to 4pm, Sunday 12 April, at the Shedshaker Taproom. Come for the records, stay for the atmosphere, and leave with a collection to rival your dreams.
