For the past 19 years, the Queenscliff Music Festival has been an essential part of my childhood. Having only missed two out of the 19 due to overseas holidays, it is one of the best festivals around and has developed into one of the best on the Australian festival scene up there with Falls, Splendour and Woodford Folk Festival.

It’s been a big thing for Geelong to have a laneway festival. In a previous life I remember heading down to the Carlton Hotel carpark for the festival there – which was headlined by Little Red in their last ever public performance.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone at the San Cisco gig without a smile on their face and a swagger in their walk. The band just have that uncanny ability to make people feel good. Taking to the stage over the weekend at the Wool Exchange Entertainment Complex with Major Leagues as their support, they left a room full of happy onlookers in their trail.

The Check your Bum For Grubs Tour had finally reached Geelong and it was pretty obvious from the turn out at the Barwon Club that night that there had been a lot of anticipation for the show to hit Geelong.

Kicking into the first set of the evening with Fuck White Pride, Newcastle punks Local Resident Failure had the crowd moving as the venue filled with fans in anticipation to last night’s second Melbourne show at 170 Russell.

When metal comes to Ballarat the Ballarat metal community come out in droves. Though, since there is only one real drove of metal heads in Ballarat, I can safely say every member of said drove descended upon Karova to witness possibly one of the most talked about live Aussie acts around; the mighty King Parrot.
