We chat to Jack Pierce about their grass-roots approach, Swagger Music Festival, and band mate and twin brother Patrick.

Gabriella Cohen has a career aspiration, and it’s not what you might assume for the Brisbane-via-Melbourne singer/songwriter. After honing her songwriting and performing craft for another five years, Cohen thinks she’d like to retire to the forest and compose orchestral soundtracks. “I want to live in a forest and compose music for film,” Cohen says.

Paul Dempsey will be airing material from his recent solo LP, Strange Loop, at this year’s Heart of St Kilda fundraising event. Released in May, the album follows Dempsey’s solo debut from 2009, Everything is True. After a five-album run fronting Something For Kate, Everything is True was something of a palate cleanser that revealed a more folk-rock oriented side of Dempsey’s songwriting.
