The New Year is fast approaching and that means it’s the perfect time for new opportunities. One such chance is the artist in residence position at the Courthouse Youth Arts Gallery. Applications are now open, so if you have an idea for the space and love showcasing incredible art, make sure you apply.

The Melbourne Night Noodle Markets are back, and with it they bring the buzz, flavour and colour of Asian culture. Head to Birrarung Marr from November 12-29 and pick yourself up something tasty.

Taste of Melbourne

Any celebration about food and we’re there. As part of the Taste of Melbourne festival you’ll get the chance to enjoy in the dream tasting menu of 50 dishes devised by some of Melbourne’s latest and greatest restaurants as well as learn a bit about getting to the finished product through a series of master classes. The event is held at Albert Park from November 12-14.

Luck be a Lady Tonight

The Lady Luck Clothing Fair is a quarterly event and the first of its kind in Castlemaine – not to mention it has a strong focus on sustainability and style. They’re pretty happy that the warmer weather is here, too, with their next outing set to take place at St Mary’s Hall, Castlemaine on November 28. 30 clothing stalls and vintage hair styling will feature, as will the cool sounds of The Seduceaphones.

Deakin Grad Exhibition

The Deakin University Visual Arts Honours students of 2015 are holding an exhibition of their year’s work, and they’d like to send an invitation your way.

Art in the Rat

The Carrington Gets a Makeover

Things are changing in the food scene in Geelong, and it’s all for the better. The newest venue to open is Centra, previously known as the Carrington Hotel, the newly renovated space has a rustic Italian menu and a modern ‘urban ruin’ design.

Ballarat Orchid Show

There’s the old saying of ‘taking time to smell the roses’ in this case orchids are the flowers of choice and you’ll certainly have an endless amount to smell and admire. The Ballarat Orchid Show will take place over October 16-18 at the Primary Industries Training Center in Wendouree.

Lorne Film Festival

The finishing touches are being put to the Lorne Film Festival, with submissions closing tomorrow, October 16. The inaugural event took place in 2013, which received over 1000 submissions before 29 films were screened across the festival’s duration.
