Award-winning family-friendly musical ‘You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown’ to premiere in Geelong

Starring some of Australia’s leading musical theatre stars such as Geelong’s very own Chelsea Gibb and Sophia Katos, along with Luke Alleva, Andrew Lorenzo, Quinlan Kelly and Andrew Smith, this beautiful production is the perfect family school holiday outing!

From the whimsical comic strip of Charles M. Schulz to the vibrant Story House stage, “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown!” is bringing a delightful blend of humour and heart to the newly renovated Geelong Arts Centre.

Stepping into the Story House Theatre, this family-friendly musical is gearing up to charm audiences for three days only from the 11th to the 13th of January.

Produced by Geelong’s first professional theatre company (What’s On? Production Company), this funny and heartwarming show is based on the beloved Peanuts comic strip, bringing the beloved Peanuts characters—Charlie Brown, Sally, Lucy, Schroeder, Linus, and the iconic Snoopy—to life.

Our hero, Charlie Brown – a lovable, anxious boy who struggles with self-confidence; his adorable, precocious sister Sally; his best friend Lucy, who has no filter, but keeps trying to be better; Lucy’s blanket obsessed and philosophical brother Linus; and Mozart obsessed Schroeder. And last but not least, their favourite companion in the land of make believe, beloved dog Snoopy. Through a series of misadventures, Charlie learns to find joy in the simple things – and discovers he might be a good man after all.

Under the guidance of the award-winning creative team, including director Paul Watson and choreographer Venessa Paech, the production is set to captivate with its innovative humour and irresistible character relationships. This dynamic duo, celebrated for their work on hit musicals like “We Will Rock You” and “Jersey Boys,” ensures an unforgettable theatre experience.

The Geelong Arts Centre’s Story House Theatre, now freshly reinvigorated, will play host to this limited three-day engagement, offering a perfect summer escape for families. The show is not just a musical; it’s a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the enduring charm of the Peanuts gang.

The all-star cast, featuring acclaimed performers, adds a touch of theatrical brilliance to the production:

• Chelsea Gibb as Lucy Van Pelt: Renowned for her roles in musicals such as “Chicago” and “The King & I,” Chelsea Gibb brings her exceptional talent to the role of Lucy.
• Luke Alleva as Snoopy: With a West End background, Luke Alleva infuses his performance with the energy and charisma needed to bring Snoopy to life.
• Sophia Katos as Sally Brown: Local artist Sophia Katos, known for her TV roles in “Wentworth” and national tours of productions like “Strictly Ballroom,” makes a welcome return to the Geelong stage.
• Andrew Lorenzo as Charlie Brown: Fresh from his triumphant performance in “Jersey Boys,” Andrew Lorenzo is set to shine once again, portraying the iconic Charlie Brown.
• Quinlan Kelly as Linus: A proud graduate of the University of Ballarat Arts Academy, Quinlan Kelly brings his theatre prowess to the role of Linus.
• Andrew Smith as Schroeder: Following his acclaimed performance in “Jersey Boys,” Andrew Smith returns to the Geelong stage as Schroeder.
