Geelong readers rejoice! A brand new independent book store is opening on Pakington Street this weekend. On Saturday 4 July, Good Girls Read Bookstore is opening at Shop 10 350 Pakington Street, ready to make you fall in love again and again, and also lose sleep from “just one more chapter”.

Good Girls Read Bookstore is the thoughtful curation from book lover and owner Marianne Locke with the vision to create a space that is safe, encouraging and applies the reading rules “we listen and we don’t judge”. The selection of books spans all genres with an extensive collection of romance, fantasy, special editions, books that contain plenty of spice. Whether you love an enemies to lovers trope, a slowburn sizzle fest, a happily ever after, or a little (or a lot of) heat, Good Girls Read Bookstore has you covered.

Whilst these stories cater to the female-gaze, the store is not just for girls. Everyone is welcome to explore their diverse library of titles beyond the heart-fluttering list. Even better is their dedication to stocking local and independent authors. Newcomer author and illustrator The Home Yogi has her newest title Yogi Wisdom on display, whilst Krystal Wade has her two children’s books Finding Toby’s Smile and Mabel’s Magical Meal available as signed copies. Other independent authors on the list include Caitlin Penfold, Sharon Cameron, Catherine Hannah, and Maddie Jensen, Rachel O’Rourke, and many more.

In addition to their incredible range and support for independents, Good Girls Read Bookstore will also host a series of events throughout the year, from book launches to meet and greets, signings, readings and more.
