Forte Magazine Issue 776

Let’s be honest, as music lovers our team are a little bit nerdy when it comes to vinyl and we all have storied wax collections to prove it. Which is why we’re so excited for this issue which has us spinning from all the goodness.

It starts at the states biggest champion of film and moving picture, ACMI, in their upcoming collaboration with fellow cultural titan, Melbourne’s premier arts and music festival, RISING. All the way from London, they present a renowned record exhibition The Vinyl Factory: Reverb. In a city that actively appreciates and preserves the artform of vinyl, The Vinyl Factory: Reverb is a culmination of education, immersion, storytelling, listening, collaboration, and performance all delightfully packaged together. We drop the needle on this exhibition with ACMI curator, Bethan Johnson, and The Vinyl Factory Creative Director, Sean Bidder.

The RISING content continues as we deep dive into the ambitious programming, breaking it down into seamless travel plans for regional audiences. This issue also taps into the music events outside of the festival including tours from celebrated Australian rockers JET, The Superjesus, Paul Dempsey, and country kings The Wolfe Brothers, and we also recognise the continued cultural footprint that National Celtic Folk Festival has on the region.

In travel, we roadtrip to Gippsland with a guide packed with must-visit places, and let you in on some insider knowledge with spotlights on local artist Cindy Tong, and music-makers All Regards.

In food, we head into the kitchen of suburban winery, Nicol’s Paddock for Chef’s Corner, and we look into the menus and offerings of The National Hotel, Locos Barwon Heads, frankie, and 13th Beach Golf Links.

Finally, our Socialight feature is about to light up your world – get to know the family-run business making lighting the household hero.

This issue is packed full of the big, bold, and bright. Bring your sunglasses!
